Last week I had the week off work with my wife. It was our 4 year wedding anniversary and 14 year anniversary of being together.

Anyway, we had decided a few weeks proior we wanted to change our office around. We both work from home, and up to this point had not really thought about the room we use as an office as a whole. Instead we had just put together the desk part of the office (we share a 2.5m Ikea counter top as a desk), and tried a few layouts of things around it.

We decided we wanted to move the desk to be against a different wall, and to get some more shelving for the office too. Ikea to the rescue again. We picked up two of the large shelves from the Fjallbo range which matched the aesthetic of the desk we already had. Both the deks and the shelves are mid-dark woods with black metal legs/frames/accents. We also picked up a couple of similar looking wall shelves off of Amazon to go above the sofa we already had.

Finally we had also decided a few weeks prior we wanted to paint the room. Originally we had decided on a dark grey colour but after stewing on the decision for a bit, at the last minute we decided to go for a much darker black colour. We also changed our minds from just painting two walls to all of the walls. Initially I thought it might be too dark but no, the colour is amazing.

We definitely feel the office has a better vibe now. We're working from home for the foreseeable future and want to make it as easy as possible to be focused and productive.
